COURSE OVERVIEW
The First Aid at Work Re-qualification course is designed for learners who currently hold, or have recently held, a First Aid at Work qualification and need to renew it before expiry.
This 2-day course covers all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the full 3-day First Aid at Work course, delivered in a shorter timeframe. Learners must attend the specific re-qualification course and cannot attend two days of a standard 3-day course instead.
Training is delivered on-site at your workplace across Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife to minimise disruption.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
During the First Aid at Work Re-qualification course, learners will cover:
Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
Assessment of the situation
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Resuscitation and AED awareness
Choking
Control of bleeding
Shock (including anaphylaxis)
Bandaging
Sprains and strains
Fractures and spinal injuries
Head, eye and chest injuries
Burns
Heart attacks and stroke
Asthma
Diabetes
Epilepsy
Poisoning
Training focuses on refreshing existing knowledge, reinforcing practical skills, and maintaining confidence in workplace first aid situations.

Requirement:
Evidence of a current or previous First Aid at Work qualification must be provided before the course
Minimum age: 14
(Learners cannot assume responsibility as a workplace first aider
until age 16)

This regulated qualification is awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) and is recognised by Ofqual and SQA. The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 for renewing First Aid at Work qualifications.
Training is delivered by a qualified nurse and experienced first aid trainer, ensuring learners maintain the competence required to respond effectively to a wide range of workplace first aid situations.
