COURSE OVERVIEW

The Annual Refresher for First Aiders is designed to help qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders maintain their skills and knowledge, while keeping up to date with any changes to guidance and best practice.


This short refresher course is ideal for continuing professional development (CPD) and can be delivered at your workplace, school, college or chosen venue across Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

During the Annual Refresher course, learners will revisit key first aid skills and knowledge, including:

  • Responsibilities

  • Communication skills

  • Primary assessment

  • Top-to-toe survey

  • Recovery position

  • Action for vomit

  • Resuscitation

  • Chain of Survival

  • Wounds and bleeding

  • Bandaging

  • Hygiene

The course focuses on reinforcing confidence, refreshing core skills and encouraging best practice.

Although not mandatory, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders undertake annual refresher training to help keep skills current and confidence high.


This refresher course provides a practical opportunity to revisit essential first aid techniques in a supportive, hands-on environment.
